Solange Oliveira Farkas was born in Bahia, Brazil, where she studied journalism and art at the Federal University of Bahia. As a journalist she worked for the "A Tarde", "Jornal da Bahia" and "Tribuna da Bahia" newspapers. Sixteen years ago, in São Paulo, she edited the photographic magazine Fotoptica and, also, was the curator of photographic exhibitions at the Fotoptica Gallery, where she was coordinator for five years. Responsible for Videobrasil since its creation in 1983, she is constantly promoting Brazilian video exhibitions and lectures at important international festivals as well as publishing articles for catalogs and presiding over the ASSOCIAÇÃO CULTURAL VIDEOBRASIL.
